In need of GOOD, USEFUL advice for 9-man Sit n go's playing against solid players. I usually suck big time at 9-man's, but I somehow managed to claw my way to WSOP Step 6 on Stars. I imagine a few online pros will be at my table, and I have ZERO experience playing against skilled players. If you have solid strategy tips or might know what to watch out for, I'm all ears. Now when I lose I can blame it on you people...
play like a nit, thats my best advice. those are relatively deep stacked sngs with decent structures. dont get out of line early. get out of line later when youve established a good image.
id also recommend watching some of them before you hop in one.
obv if you got to step 6 youre doing something right.
I would suggest playing relatively ABC poker for the first couple of orbits, as the structure is pretty decent in the steps for the beginning. Busting out early in the steps suck as you don't even get to move back down to level 5 if you're one of the first 3-4 to bust if i remeber correctly. You can't sit around too much either, as a lot of the people you'll be playing have played hundreds of these tourneys, so they aren't afraid to get it in bad and try to amass a stack. I would suggest after gettting a feel for the table that you start loosening up and call some of these players down light. I don't think the steps show up on sharkscope, but i would sharkscope the players at your table so you know who plays more SNG's and is more likely to be playing loose.
Thanks. I really wasn't impressed by the Step 6 play though. A little over an hour into it we still had 7 players as everyone was playing EXTREMELY tight. Then all of a sudden when the blinds starting get big, people were putting their chips in just terrible. Maybe that's how those guys win 100 seats, but it looked like the same skill level as a step 2.
