These singing ferrets may have nothing to do with this thread but...

Okay I really don't know how to end that sentence.

I think there's plenty to be learned by playing at BP. When I first came to BP in its infantcy I really had no idea how to play poker. By coming here and playing, I learned a lot through experience, and by meeting players who also wanted to learn and improve, I gained a lot of knowledge about theory and the intricacies of the game. What you gain from BP is all on your shoulders; you have to willing to take the play at BP for what it is and apply it to similar situations in other games.

While I think the overall play at BP isn't very good, that doesn't mean there aren't some players who have a good idea what they're doing, and there's something to be learned from every poker situation. If you start to play bad b/c everybody else arounds you is playing bad, well then thats your own fault. So many other resources exist for improving your game, (eg. books, poker forums, training sites, friends whose poker games you respect, etc.) and BP is just another one of those tools. You have to take BP for what it's worth, evaluate people's play and the situations, and eventually make the correct poker decision, which is what poker is all about.

If you think people play bad at BP, just go online and play some tournaments, and I think you'll find that the level of play really isn't a whole lot better, and there's actually money involved in these tourneys. The argument that playing with bad players will make you bad just isn't true, unless you think that the bad play is how poker is supposed to be, and then thats your problem for not being informed.

the only difference between the bad players online and the bad players are bp that online players are more agressive.

bad and agressive is much better than bad and passive.

I think I tend to play worse at BP than anywhere else. I tend to try and chase people down more because I want to try and crush the people I dont like/think play badly. Is this because the play at BP is so bad? Nope it is inside me. Since I have been gone I have the biggest effort I am putting into my game is controlling my emotions. I figure if I dont get that fixed I can never get better no matter where I play. Just a random thought I really get annoyed when someone sits at a table and never knows when the action is on them or how much the action is to them. Is this because the is no little ding when the action is on them or no computer screen telling them how much it is or are there really that many idiots trying to play poker?

Whats funny to me is hearing people talk about "real poker". Ben, your most hated poker term is "suited". I think mine may be "real poker". Anybody using that term usually has no idea what real poker is. Most of the time it is used, it is meant to signify "tight is right" poker. Those people have no understanding of the game. Tight may be right, yes, but it also may be very wrong. Adjustments is poker. Adjust to the game you play at. If you crush BP, then whine about needing a better place to play. Dont give me, you have no job and cannot afford to crush it. If your poker game is that good, you can find a way to get the money to destroy the BP world. then go find some "real poker"
