Actually this is an ongoing story, updates of which are printed in both Poker Player newspaper and on the internet. It seems as though a reasonably intelligent discussion is next to impossible on this forum? I am however curious why areaman considers FullTilt and PokerStars to be of merit.

Your photo has a naked chick in water, and you are complaining about reasonably intelligent conversation. Anyone else find that ironic?

You're correct Dodger....being in software, I can guarantee that all sites have a way of viewing all cards in realtime, they need this for support and to make sure that things work correctly. What the posters should have said is "It's not in the best interest of the online sites to have people know that others cheat on their sites, if it happens" I still believe that you won't find coordinated cheating accepted and done by the business itself, but as in a lot of businesses, enterprising people who are given extraordinary access can find ways to exploit that access.

It's really the same as when...was it Mastercard....had a ton of credit card numbers stolen, and they were really closed mouthed about it...

Once the stink gets high enough...say after the upcoming and feared 60 minutes story that is looming on online poker, then it would be in the best interest of sites to say "Hey, we've hired that accounting firm that is trusted with the Oscar answers, and a couple of online poker pros, to do an independant review of our workings" than confidence can be somewhat justified.

The difference here is that UB and AP have been basically closed up about what they did, and there's no guarantee beyond their assurances, that things won't happen again. The one good result, (which will never affect me, because I doubt I will ever play at the level where these exploits happen), is that I am sure that there are independant players now analyzing hand histories routinely, and they can spot those accounts that are running far outside the bell curve in terms of how much they win per hand.

I am also in software. this is why i know the many ways the site can be set up to cheat. But you dont need to be a programmer to make that leap of faith. they own the game. They wrote the code, they own the servers that run the game engine. The game engine obviously knows all of the cards. its their court, their ball, and the only reason we know they "have" cheated is because of a few idiots. The only way we can be more confident that it isnt going on, is for an authority to step in, would have to be the US government, and say you need these checks and balances on your software and system for you to have a "license" to run an online poker site. Until that there, you have to assume there are super accounts and other ways to cheat on sites. Yes, only high stake players need to worry.

As far as UB and AP. Those cases were from the part owners of the sites themselves. not just a "rougue" employee. That a significant difference. Its their show, and if they want to steal, they can. It is sure hard to pass up a conservative amount of like 70-100k a month, when risk is as low as it is with a super account!! I dont know anyone rich enough to say "nah, i will choose to not take 70-100k just cause I can".
