Well I don't think you played it about as terrible as possible, but still I don't mind 3 betting it preflop, but when he 4 bets you what's going through your mind? You're getting a little better than 4:1 on the call, but you're putting in 40% of your stack preflop with AJ here, this spot is either a shove or a fold. He's probably calling a shove judging by how he played the hand, but still I think you should have just folded AJ here preflop. Post flop your play is fine IMO, what are you calling the 4 bet with if you're going to fold on that board? Over 300,000 in the pot and he has about 130,000 back, folding on this board is terrible and a huge leak. So either: A)5 bet shove preflop (which with AJ isn't really a super good play but in these fields not terrrible by any means) or B)Fold to his 4 bet, which is what I would have done.

Plus a lot of this is player dependent I guess, considering he opened up UTG with A8, and a min-raise at that. If you thought he was weak it was a good 3 bet, but then he puts in the 4th bet you have to decide there if you have the best hand. What are you going to do if you brick out the flop, as you just lost 40% of your chips with AJ preflop. You'll still have 23BB which is very workable, I just don't like calling off that many chips with AJ oop, you either need to shove or fold to the 4th bet preflop. He doesn't have any fold equity, so obviously your shove is getting called her, so you need to determine if you're beating his range, which is player dependent, but also he's UTG so you have to give him a bit more credit no matter how bad he plays. Just open fold AJ oop next time and wait for a better spot where you're the aggressor and have position, as you have a really good stack compared to the blinds and your table.

This dozo5 person seems to know what he is talking about in this situation. I for one am not going broke on this hand, as calling off all your chips with AJ is what you see many low-stakes novice level players doing (not saying you are a novice, I don't know you). I guess it's a good call post flop but setting yourself up to have to make that call is very rarely going to be a good thing. How often will AJ be the best hand here? Hardly ever. I believe that's -EV. Sure the other player got lucky, but AJ just doesn't do it for me in this situation or in any situation the board doesn't read J J J. Maybe I play too tight, I don't know.

if he 4 bet shove its an easy fold for me and i just chalk it up to whatever, but he 4 bet minraised me and everyone knows i cant fold to minraises...the whole hand fucked me up. i cant understand what someone would min 4 bet with.

also, i 3 bet from the blinds with a/j because the dude originally minraised, minraises are weak typically and I BELEIVED I HAD THE BEST HAND...

5 bet shoving into this guy would have been the right move here, unfortunatley...who the hell knows what he has in this hand due to the strange way he played it...and doing wthat with AJo is extremely marginal.

here is where i think youre incorrect. i think a/j is often the best hand here to an utg minraiser. his 4 bet minraise, maybe alarms should have been going off...

AJ in a 10 minute level tourney is the nuts.

i froze when he 4 bet minraised me to be honest..
also, this guy was minraising a lot and taking the blinds...my read was people needed to play back at him because he wasnt raising with the goods.
i am 100% certain if the flop comes ace high without an 8 he stacks off to me.
